What are the disadvantages of PCB?
PCB board production involves a series of complex and sophisticated custom pcb fabrication processes. As the circuit boards become more integrated and more complex, the probability of defects and failures increases.
1. Short circuit
Common short circuits include: when the space or spacing between the copper traces is small, a short circuit will occur; untrimmed Electronic Components leads will cause a short circuit; floating in the air can lead to a short thin wire that will cause a short circuit between the copper traces.
2. Welding bridge
Component failure: A defective component usually shorts its input or output to power or ground.
3. Open
When the trace is broken, or when the solder is only on the pad and not on the leads of the Electronic Components, an open circuit can occur. In this case, there is no adhesion or connection between Electronic Components and PCB. Just like a short circuit, an open circuit can also occur during the production or welding process and other operations.
3. Loose or dislocation of Electronic Components
Including insufficient circuit board support, Wave Solder for PCBA settings, solder paste problems, human error, etc., causing vibration or bounce of Electronic Components on the soldered PCB.
4. Welding problems
(1) Disturbed solder joints: due to external disturbances, the solder moves before solidification.
(2) Cold welding: This situation occurs when the solder cannot be melted properly, resulting in rough surface and unreliable connection.
(3) Solder bridge: This happens when solder crosses and physically connects two leads together.
(4) Others: insufficient wetting of pads, pins or leads; too much or too little solder; pads that are elevated due to overheating or rough soldering.
